Why BMI Matters: How to Read Results & Basic Health Guide

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height used to classify weight status in adults.

Why Check Your BMI?

Knowing your BMI is a first step in assessing your risk for chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

A Starting Point, Not the Goal

Ready to find yours? Use our BMI Calculator now and begin your journey to a healthier you.

The formula is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared: 70 ÷ 1.75² is about 22.9. This calculator uses general adult boundaries of 18.5, 25 and 30. Asian populations may use lower action points for risk assessment, so a value below 25 does not rule out disease risk. BMI does not separate muscle from fat, and these adult categories are not appropriate for children or assessing pregnancy weight.
